Tick tock tick tock. The seconds until summer break count down, and I’m already craving sleeping past 8:00 a.m., going to the beach every weekend, and opening up Canvas with zero assignments appearing. The end of the 2025-2026 academic year marks the final Spyglass edition, my first edition as Editor-in-Chief, and the last edition for our outgoing senior editors, staff writers, and design team members.
On Friday, May 15, Spyglass celebrated our graduating seniors, including outgoing Editor-in-Chief Valentina V., Editor Kristin C., Staff Writer Keira K., and Design Team Co-Head Isa H. With the graduating Class of 2026 beginning their next journey, Editors Micki M. and Karalim C., along with Staff Writer Sophie D., conducted our annual anonymous senior survey, receiving responses from the entire 62-member class.
We also have a collection of goodbye suites, including Upper School History Teacher Ms. Sandy de Grijs, retiring after 30 years, and Upper School English Teacher Mr. Ed Raines, retiring after 24 years. Click here to read Spyglass’s goodbye to our wonderful retirees and faculty.
As you scroll through our May edition, don’t forget to take a look at our 2025-26 Best of Spyglass Suite, highlighting the best articles from this academic year. You may have also spied us at Night Market, the first time Spyglass has appeared! Thank you to the teachers, faculty, students, and parents who were interviewed this year. I am so honored to serve as your new Editor-in-Chief alongside the incoming Managing Editor Tekle S.-J. ’27, Website Manager/Designer Gemma A. ’27, Social Media Manager Frances B. ’27, and the rest of the 2026-27 Editorial Board.
Have an amazing summer break!
