Westridge Athletics ends the school year with an impressive spring sports season, marking a successful first year under the leadership of Coach Alice Lee, Director of Athletics. With the Varsity Swim Team earning a first-ever individual CIF Champion title, Varsity Lacrosse reaching CIF Semifinals for the first time, and three out of four spring sports advancing to CIF Southern Section, Tigers have much to celebrate as they head into summer.
Track and Field:
The Track and Field team had an exceptional season, with 18 qualifiers advancing to Prep League Finals and four qualifiers advancing even further to CIF-SS. Westridge athletes were particularly dominant in the pole vault event. At Prep League Finals, Kasandra O.-C. ’28 and Carina A. ’29, who had only begun practicing for the pole vault mid-season, took second and third place in the sport, respectively. Leading the pole vaulters was Senior Teia L., who took first-place in the pole vault event, earning her a Prep League Champion title. ASB Athletics Head Senior Isabel D-L. ’26 also claimed a Prep League Champion title in triple jump and was awarded Field MVP Prep League Finals Meet for top-three finishes in triple jump, high jump, and long jump. Next year, Isabel will continue competing in Track and Field at Carleton College.
Coach Alice gave a special shout-out to seniors Isabel, Teia, and Micaela R., noting that beyond their individual achievements, these seniors have been mentors who paved the way for younger athletes. While these seniors leave big shoes to fill, talented underclassmen like Carina and shotputter Nicki W. ’29 look to continue the Tigers’ momentum into next year.

Lacrosse:
The Varsity Lacrosse team officially cemented their place in the record books this season, exceeding their previous record of a quarter-final finish, and reached CIF-SS semifinals for the first time in Westridge history. The lacrosse team had a close game in the quarter-finals against Santiago High School, barely securing a spot in the semi-finals by a one-point lead in a score of 9-8. In the semi-finals, the team lost to Glendale High School 5-11, but established themselves as one of the final four teams of CIF Southern Section. Strong players like Layla R. ’27 and senior Keira K. ’26 continue to bring the team success, along with Sophie S. ’28.
Lacrosse holds high hopes for next year, as they have continually beaten records set in previous years. After advancing to semifinals this season, the lacrosse team sets their sights on CIF Championships in the future.

Swim:
This swim team delivered one of their best results in recent history. The team’s hard work resulted in an impressive overall performance. In CIF Championships, swim placed 12th out of 66 teams, and seven athletes qualified. Five athletes, Mira C. ’28, Jessica S. ’27, Alexis N. ’28, and twins Maddie K. ’29 and Ella K. ’29, even advanced to Championship Finals. Several athletes earned medals for their events, including Mira C. ’28, who earned 9th place in the 500-meter freestyle. Along with this, Alexis N. ’28 secured the title of this year’s Division 4 CIF Champion in the 100-meter breaststroke, the first individual swim title in Westridge history.
Looking to the future, Westridge’s swim team is expected to continue gaining titles with many strong athletes returning to the team.

Softball:
The softball team did not advance to CIFs this year and won 1 out of 15 games this season. However, this season included a roster of brave new athletes playing the sport for the first time. Freshman Nylee B. ’29, in her first season with Westridge softball, showed off 9 total hits and 5 runs batted in, setting the standard along with team captain Zoë T. ’26. Despite the season’s results, with a team of newcomers like Mina J. ’29, who came back to the sport with unexpected strength despite a mid-season injury, young players have gained invaluable experience, setting the team up for future success.
As the softball team continues rebuilding for next year, the program positions itself for a return to competitive league play.
