Someone pass me a box of tissues! This is it, my final Spyglass edition as Editor-in-Chief–and no, this is not a belated April Fool’s joke. Working on this newspaper has made me a better writer, deeper thinker, and increasingly curious about the world around me. Actually, hold the tissues. We aren’t all done yet; there are so many recently published stories waiting to be read! (Sorry, passive voice. See? I really have learned something by dedicating myself to Spyglass.)
In this edition, we have stories ranging from last month’s Discovery Week adventures, rodent sightings on campus, to one junior’s Antarctic expedition. There are also plenty of stories regarding recent campus happenings, including Junior Staff Writer Phoebe M.’s look into prom planning, Olivia P. and Avery S.’s story about All School Day, and cross-grade friendships investigated by upcoming Editor Micki M. ’28.
You can also find a few new Spyglass shorts in this edition, a form of multimedia our staff has recently begun exploring.
Recently, the Spyglass staff has also received some exciting news regarding journalistic awards, with many of our staff writers and editors being recognized as finalists by the Private School Journalism Association (PSJA) and the Writing, Visual, and Multimedia contest.
Next edition, current Managing Editor Rebecca L. ’27 will take the reins as Editor-in-Chief, junior Tekle S.-J. will take on the role of Managing Editor, and Gemma A. ’27 and Frances B. ’27 will continue their roles as Website Manager/Designer and Social Media Manager, respectively. Click here to learn more about their plans for the upcoming school year.
Enjoy reading!
