Following the arrival of new Athletics Director Coach Alice Lee at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, Westridge athletics has undergone an exciting transformation, including the revamp of the Westridge athletics newsletter, “Tiger Tracks.”
“Tiger Tracks” is a weekly newsletter emailed to students and parents every Monday. Every issue includes a weekly schedule for games and athletic events, various tips for maintaining healthy habits, and motivational insights designed to inspire the Westridge community. It also features a student athlete spotlight, where a student athlete is recognized for their dedication to their sport.
When Coach Alice first arrived at Westridge, different community members shared with her the weekly news cap that previous Athletics Director Coach Melanie Horn sent out, which inspired her to create the newsletter. “We can use it as an opportunity not to just recap our sports but really think about how [we are] highlighting our student athletes, sports teams, coaches, all the things that we’re doing in athletics beyond just what’s happening on the field,” she said.

For many students, this fresh approach has brought a new sense of connection to the Westridge athletic community.
“I like the activity schedule because I don’t really know the schedule sometimes, and it helps,” says Naava C. ’29. “I read it every time it comes out… It’s cool that it was added this year, especially because I’m in high school now, so there’s new things about athletics that I [am not] sure about.”

While the newsletter has succeeded in inspiring and displaying individual talents of student athletes, it also raised important conversations about equal representation across sports.
Freshman Priya G. says, “I think [the newsletter] could talk a little bit more about the games… Not just the flag football game, the volleyball [game]– all sports. I’ve looked at the calendar before because it lists what events are coming up, [but] I’m on the Equestrian Team too, and nobody really talks about them.”
Coach Alice has several ideas to improve “Tiger Tracks” as the year progresses including prioritizing branding, adding content from different members of the athletics department, and developing a section for students to submit quotes. “I would love to build out even more, this is kind of still Tiger tracks 1.0. I think how ‘Tiger Tracks’ looks right now may be very different from how it looks by the end of the school year,” she said.
