I thought this day would never come. As a senior trudging through endless college applications, extracurricular commitments, and school assignments, I am overjoyed that we are finally heading into Winter Break, and I’m sure this sentiment is echoed by the entire Spyglass staff and Westridge community.
After months of grueling work, Westridge students, faculty, and staff have finally earned some time off. But before you go, Spyglass has launched our December edition. In what is unofficially our “Holiday Edition,” which features a plethora of Etc. pieces (from community traditions to a senior wishlist), you’ll find a delicious ginger cookie recipe and more feel-good stories like Dr. Lacoss’ new crocheting tradition.
Beyond these articles, Spyglass journalists continued to interview, transcribe, write, and edit in investigative features and campus news stories. Freshman Karalim C. published her first feature, diving into the transition from middle to high school. Meanwhile, Editor Valentina V. ’26 and Frances B. ’27 wrote their feature on pedagogy surrounding projects. Amidst these pieces, we have coverage on Discovery Week updates, a recent Rocketry success, and a Westridge junior’s journey to joining the Nicaraguan U-17 National Soccer Team.
Heading into Winter Break, I encourage you to savor our articles. Read every single one—maybe even twice. Think, laugh, and comment. Let us know what you think!
We’ll see you for our next edition in February. We’re already cooking up some stellar stories, and I’m counting down the days ‘til then.
