On Monday, November 11, the Upper School Office introduced the senior Discovery Week options: Guatemala, Chile, Namibia, and Japan. The international trips are meant to “offer valuable lessons, unique perspectives, and the chance to discover something new” and to “challenge yourself, meet new people, and grow both personally and academically.”
According to the Upper School Office, “the estimated range of trip cost is $4000-$4500 per trip and all trips will cost the same regardless of destination.” Attending a Discovery Week trip is a graduation requirement.
Two faculty members confirmed to Spyglass that the freshman and sophomore local trip proposals were due November 8, but details have not been released to the 9th and 10th graders, nor have faculty members been selected to lead said trips. Director of Upper School Dr. Melanie Arias told a Spyglass reporter that she estimates trip details for grades 9, 10, and 11 to be released either before or soon after winter break.
