Welcome to Metro Stop Highlights, a series where we showcase the various stops along the A Line Metro in Los Angeles, California. Our third stop is South Pasadena. As you exit the Metro, you’re greeted by the aroma of countless delicious-smelling restaurants. Whether you’re contemplating visiting Teamorrow or the Fair Oaks Pharmacy & Soda Fountain, here are some of our favorite things to do near the South Pasadena station.
Teamorrow
When you step into the aesthetic coffee shop that is Teamorrow, you are likely to spot at least a few fellow Westridge students. After a tough day at school, Teamorrow is the perfect place to study and grab a quick snack. Going to Teamorrow is truly a Westridge rite of passage, and if you haven’t been yet, the new menu update might just be the sign you need. Currently, Teamorrow is debuting a new line of shaved ice, featuring unique flavors like Oreo Crush, Matcha Bliss, and Mango Paradise.
Pharmacy and Soda Fountain
Serving the South Pas community since 1915, the Fair Oaks Pharmacy & Soda Fountain is a great choice for an after-school bite. The Soda Fountain takes inspiration from its location along the historic Route 66. Savor classic phosphates and sodas, and if you’re in the mood for something indulgent, grab a few friends to share the famous banana split, perfectly sized for four!
Rice & Nori
If you want a satisfying meal after school, Rice & Nori is the place to go. Between their flawless hand-rolls and delicious matcha tiramisu, you have countless options to choose from. Boasting both indoor and outdoor seating, Rice & Nori is a great spot to wrap up some homework or catch up with friends. If you’re looking for a refreshing treat after a sports game, their lychee lemonade is perfect for cooling down.
The Farmers Market
If you’re ever by the South Pasadena metro station on a Thursday, the South Pasadena Farmers Market is a must. Every Thursday, the farmers market offers a wide variety of local produce, food vendors, and live music. As you walk out of the Metro station, you will soon be greeted by the sound of live smooth jazz and the sweet smell of fruits and freshly baked cookies. Open from 4–8 p.m., it’s an ideal spot to get dinner. We recommend trying Stuffed Crepes or Deisy’s pupusas. Since 1999, the South Pasadena Farmers Market has been a cherished tradition and is a perfect way to spend an evening in South Pasadena.
Hotbox Vintage:
While walking down Mission Street, you’ll find Hotbox Vintage tucked behind the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. Only a four minute walk away from the South Pasadena Metro station, this hidden gem sells various vintage items for a fair price. With its charming atmosphere, Hotbox Vintage is the perfect spot to expand your wardrobe—whether you’re looking for a leather jacket or a pair of earrings.
