Happy Halloween!
As our Halloween surprise to you, the Spyglass staff spent the last few weeks crafting holiday-themed articles about candy, costumes, and the oh-so terrifying parts of being a Westridge student. We also are bringing back some of our archive pieces, such as Genevieve Wichmann ’24’s “Enduring Power of the Witch” and Emerson Lee ’20’s feature on the “The Transgender Halloween Experience,” to our home page.
Over the years, Spyglass has usually published Halloween-themed articles in our November edition, days after the candy-filled celebration. This year however, with our latest edition being October 7 and our next being November 18, including Halloween-themed articles in either publishing round just did not feel right. As we continue to expand our commitment to regular, engaging, and creative content, this edition is what I am calling a “Special Holiday Edition.”
You, our dedicated and thoughtful readers, deserve a good laugh—as I am sure our articles, “Jumpscare! Spookiest Westridge Experiences” or “Top 10 Scariest Scenarios – Westridge Middle School Edition” will give you. The latter article is another first for Spyglass—it’s a contribution from the entire Middle School.
Beyond our more humorous articles, I encourage you to look at two archive pieces we pulled from the depths of our site. I recently re-read them while cultivating this edition, and both Genevieve and Emerson’s contributions left me with food for thought heading into this gluttonous holiday. Thank you again for reading all of our work, from our hard-hitting features to this Halloween special. See you November 18 for our next official edition. I promise that there will be no more surprises—for now.
Have a Boo-tiful Halloween,
Ella
