Sand-filled flip-flops, striking tan lines, and hours of reading (not for school) are only a few days away. The end of the academic year marks the final Spyglass edition, my first edition as Editor-in-Chief, and the last edition for our talented senior staff writers, artists, and editors.
Spyglass’s graduating seniors consist of 5 editors, including outgoing Editor-in-Chief Ella B., Managing Editor Tanvi C., Website Manager Reed D., Social Media Manager Mirella C., and Sophene A. Each of these seniors have contributed countless hours of writing, interviewing, editing, and mentoring for Spyglass. To read more about our graduating seniors, click here.
Spyglass not only waves goodbye to our seniors but to the entire graduating class of 2025. Sophomore editors Tekle S.-J. and Frances B. conducted our annual anonymous senior survey, and they received responses from all 74 students in the class! Frances also wrote a Humans of Westridge profile on singing-sensation senior Sydney S., and Josie S.-J. ’27 wrote about Westridge’s college commitment chalk day tradition.
However, the class of 2025 are not the only Westridge Tigers moving on. Director of Athletics Coach Melanie Horn and Dance Teacher Kashmir Blake are both retiring after thirty years working at Westridge. Click here to read Spyglass’s goodbye to Coach Horn, and here for the piece on Kashmir.
I hope you enjoy reading the May edition, and don’t forget to tune back in this fall for even more Spyglass content. I am so honored to serve as your new Editor-in-Chief alongside incoming Managing Editor Rebecca L. ’27, Website manager Gemma A. ’27, and Social Media Manager Frances B. ’27.
Have an amazing summer!
Valentina
