Welcome to Metro Stop Highlights, a series where we showcase the various stops along the A Line Metro in Los Angeles, California. Our seventh stop is Historic Broadway. As you exit the Metro in Historic Broadway, you’re greeted by the towering skyscrapers and open skies of Downtown Los Angeles. Whether you’re contemplating lunch at Grand Central or a ride on the Angel’s Flight, here are some of our favorite things to do near the station.

Grand Central Market
Grand Central Market is the perfect place for a lunch in Downtown Los Angeles. With 40 unique vendors, you will never run out of choices for delicious grub. On a hot summer day, try out an Agua Fresca from La Fruteria or a cold scoop of Cookie Butter ice cream from McConnells. But, don’t fret; the food is not only suited for the warm months—in the winter, you can enjoy delicious hot pesto from Knead.
Gabba Gallery
Since 2012, Gabba Gallery has served the Los Angeles community, providing opportunities for growing artists to display their work, and the general public to see new and creative pieces. On May 31, the Gabba Gallery will display the Colour Haiku Music Poster + Art Fest, featuring over 25 unique posters drawn by upcoming artists. Just a two minute walk from the Metro station, Gabba Gallery is a great place to cool off and enjoy unique artwork.

Angel’s Flight Railway
Running for over 118 years, the Angel’s Flight Railway has been an essential location for visitors of Downtown Los Angeles. Only a six minute walk from the metro station, the railway is a $1.00 pass each way. In addition to being the shortest rail ride in the world, Angel’s Flight has been featured in various movies including La La Land and The Muppets. Take a drink, a snack, or a friend, and enjoy the magic of the railway this summer!
Pershing Square Ice Skating
During the winter months, Pershing Square is transformed into an ice skating rink in the heart of Downtown. In November 2025, enjoy the $20 skate rental, fresh ice, and yummy hot chocolate, and count down the minutes until you can see the zamboni. Until next year, elves!
The Broad
Just a six minute walk from the station, the Broad is a contemporary art museum featuring various art installations. Open every day except Mondays, admission is free for all to visit the extensive collection of art. Our favorite installations are the Expansive Presentation of Andy Warhol and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms. After a nice meal in Grand Central Market, this art gallery is a perfect hangout spot during the weekend!
